No More Free Hosting - Rogers Shuts Down

Close to Yahoo! Geocities decision and announcement to shut down services with effect from Oct 26th 2009, a glorious time for free hosting is coming to an end. Geocities was my first web host when I entered the web world and started experimenting with HTML and related coding - alas, Geocities never had option to host JSP pages and that's when my romance ended with them.

Here is the screenshot from Geocities as I visited them today.

Now, Yahoo! is not the only one that is closing the door for free hosting options. Just two weeks after Rogers began forcing its Flickr users to pay U.S. $25 a year to keep using their Flickr Pro account, Rogers is telling its subscribers that it will no longer offer free personal web hosting.

In an email sent to its High Speed Internet (HSI) customers this week, the company said that effective October 26th, GeoCities, Rogers Yahoo! free web site building service and community would close.

Similar to users of Flickr, subscribers are given the option of move their websites to Yahoo!'s paid web hosting option for U.S. $9.95 per month. If you are one of those affected by this recent change from Yahoo! Geocities, we would welcome you to use our hosted services on Pubdomains.com - Green Web Hosting in Linux and Windows, with multiple single click install scripts such as Joomla, Drupal, OScommerce, WordPress Blog, PHPBB and more. All these are backed by quality service and support at a monthly $3.99 price is much cheap and affordable compared to Yahoo Paid Hosting! We also have free hosting options with us at Pubdomains.com, so visit us to view the options and services offered by us.

Rogers Yahoo! GeoCities customers must remove their files from their servers by October 26th after which their files will be deleted and will not be recoverable.

If you need help to migrate or transfer your files from Geocities and switchover to Pubdomains, drop us a note and we are offering FREE transfer when you purchase hosting services from us! Contact info@pubdomains-com for more information or state your requirements and we shall get back to you with our quote.
